The first Caterer Middle East Conference concluded yesterday, deemed an overwhelming success by industry visitors and exhibitors.

More than 200 chefs and F&B industry professionals turned out for the one-day interactive event held between nine and five at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai.

The day involved a series of panel sessions debating topical issues and featuring prestigious industry speakers, as well as practical workshops addressing everyday challenges.

St. Regis Abu Dhabi head chef - pre-opening at Rhodes 44 Paul Lupton who attended the inaugural conference commented: “For me personally the quality of the speakers and panels really made the day”.

Many visitors and exhibitors said the day had provided a unique networking opportunity for the region’s F&B industry professionals.

George Iacob, food and beverage manager, Hilton Fujairah Resort said: “It was fantastic for our networking – all the chefs and F&B managers were around and I was able to find out about the new solutions to our new issues in the industry – new trends were brought up in the discussions and it was great to meet our colleagues from Dubai, find out about their promotions and business.

“It was great, going to the workshops especially; for things to be shared. I learnt a lot of new things. Also, just being here with all the different chefs is great. In general, it was just really useful, added Sri Parmaissur, executive sous chef, Al Sondos Suites by Le Méridien.
