Margaret Paul has joined Madinat Jumeirah – The Arabian Resort as its general manager, with Mahmoud Sakr replacing her as general manager at Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

The British national Paul joined the Jumeirah Group in 2002 at London’s Jumeirah Carlton Towers, where she became hotel manager, after working for Le Mèridien in Europe and Dubai.

Two years later she relocated to Dubai to become hotel manager for the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, before becoming general manager in 2008, when she returned from being general manager for a pre-opening.

In her new role, she will oversee the management of the resort’s Al Qasr, Mina A’Salam and Dar Al Masyaf hotels, as well as Souk Madinat Jumeirah and the resort’s conference centre.

Sakr, an Egyptian national, has worked for Jumeirah since 1999, when he joined the Burj Al Arab as director of rooms.

He moved to executive assistant director – rooms division, before residence manager and finally general manager, and in 2008 he moved to become general manager at the Mina A’Salam. Throughout his career, he has also worked in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

The group has also appointed Graham Kiy as general manager ont he pre-opening team for the 200-room Jumeirah Guangzhou in the New Pearl City Tian He District, China.

It also announced Pinar Kartal Timer, current general manager at Pera Palace Hotel in Istanbul, which Jumeirah will rebrand from May 1, has been joined its leadership team.
