The two luxury lodges by Anantara form part of the Desert Islands resort on Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi
The opening of two luxury lodges, an extension of Anantara’s Desert Islands Abu Dhabi Resort and Spa on Sir Bani Yas Island, has been delayed until 2013 by the developer.
Al Sahel Lodge by Anantara and Al Yamm lodge by Anantara were scheduled to open this year, but a spokesperson for the operator told Hotelier Middle East: “The Lodges, they have been postponed to 2013 as the developer Tourism Development Investment Company (TDIC) needed to prioritise some projects in Abu Dhabi”.
TDIC was unavailable for comment at the time of publishing.

The five-star Al Sahel lodge features 30 one- and two-bedroom villas, two royal villas, 15 standard king villas and six family villas, as well as two restaurants, a cigar lounge, pool and a tented library.
Al Yamm Lodge comprises 30 villas, 15 of which are located on the beach and another 15 among the mangrove forests. Each villa features one- or two bedrooms, with a private pool. There are also two restaurants, a pool, library, lounge and a business centre.
The addition of the two lodges forms part of an expansion project on the Desert Islands resort, which also includes Sir Bani Yas Stables - which opened on March 15, as well as a conference centre and water sports centre both due to launch in quarter three, 2012.
Sir Bani Yas Island is an 87 sq km island that is part of Abu Dhabi’s Desert Islands tourism development. It is a natural island situated in the Arabian Gulf, approximately eight kilometres from Abu Dhabi’s western coastline (Al Gharbia region) and a 250km drive from Abu Dhabi City.
