Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace have announced the appointments of five senior executives.

The new team members cover a range of departments, working across both sister properties. Georges Karam joins as director of sales and marketing with more than 12 years of experience, and will run a team of 20 in all commercial activities.

Rolf Jan Van Zeijl is welcomed as director of operations, having previously been involved in F&B for Hilton Worldwide MEA. New marketing and communications manager Kasper Wigen moves from Hilton Al Ain, after having also worked at Hilton Copenhagen Airport.

With more than 40 years experience in engineering, Trevor Bennet joins the two hotels as senior chief engineer, having worked in the UK for Hilton, at Hilton London Olympia and Hilton Standsted, where he was responsible for overseeing a major refurbishment project.

The two Beirut hotels also welcome a new executive chef, Jean Francois Pelaez. He comes with 25 years of culinary experience, having worked across the globe, in Europe and Africa, as well as in Michelin-star restaurants.

Jean-Pierre Mainardi, general manager of Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace, said: “We’re bringing together a strong, professional team who, between them, have more than a 90 year experience in their respective areas of expertise. Together, they will be a major asset to the two hotel businesses and help bring energy and inspiration to our 400 team members.”

Hilton Worldwide was appointed by owner Al Habtoor Group to convert and operate the two hotels last October.

Previously, they were managed in-house by the owning company's Habtoor Hotels and Resorts brand.
