Steven Benson-Flower has been promoted to regional director of culinary for Ras Al Khaimah at Hilton Worldwide.

The British chef will take on responsibility for Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa, Hilton Ras Al Khaimah, DoubleTree by Hilton Ras Al Khaimah and Al Hamra Fort Hotel & Beach Resort Ras Al Khaimah, as well as Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, due to open in 2013 and DoubleTree by Hilton Resort, Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah, scheduled for 2014.

Benson-Flower began his career in 1989 at Edinburgh Grand Sheraton Hotel and Spa. Two ytears later he moved from his role as commis chef to chef de partie at the Carlton Hotel Johannesburg in South Africa.

He first joined Hilton in 1997 as executive sous chef at Hilton Sandton, where he was Hilton’s youngest executive chef. He then moved with the group to Hilton Nairobi, then the USA and Elysium Hotel Resort in Cyprus.

In 2007, he first moved to the UAE, where he became cluster executive chef for Hilton’s three Dubai properties. In 2011 he was named number one chef for food and beverage in the Middle East Arabian Peninsula in the Hilton Worldwide Guest Satisfaction Survey.

In his new role he will oversee a brigade of more than 200 chefs and stewards.
