Emaar Hospitality Group, the hospitality and leisure subsidiary of global property developer Emaar Properties PJSC, has appointed Josef Kufer as its chief operating officer.

As COO, Kufer is responsible for the overall operations of the organisation, while working to develop and implement strategies that drive the group’s profitability.

Spearheading projects within the Emaar Hospitality’s subsidiaries, he will also work closely on expanding its five-star premium brand, The Address Hotels + Resorts.

Ahmad Al Matrooshi, managing director, Emaar Properties PJSC, said that with more than 30 years of extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Kufer “brings with him strong domain knowledge of the sector to Emaar Hospitality Group”.

“In his new role, he will play a key part in further demonstrating our competencies in offering superior hospitality experiences,” he added.

Kufer has worked with renowned chains in Germany, New York, Paris, California, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Oman, India, Lebanon, Egypt, and Africa.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the School of Hotel Administration in Munich Germany, and has attended Cornell for Operations Management, Marketing Strategy and Global Leadership Programmes.

“We will continue to focus our energies on strengthening the group’s current portfolio, while seeking opportunities for growth in key global destinations,” Kufer asserted.
