Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort has become the first hotel to be awarded with Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s CSR Label.

The title, awarded to only eight organisations is designed to recognise a team’s contribution towards helping build a responsible and sustainable business community in the emirate.

The submission process includes an assessment in four areas of CSR involvement – in the workplace, marketplace, community and environment.

Companies are then judged on whether they are taking action internally, have a formal policy for action, measuring performance and have targets set for improvement.

Over the past year, CSR initiatives at the property have resulted in more than 1700 volunteer hours, AED150,000 (US $40,838) being raised, as well as more than AED600,000 (US $163,354) in pro-bono donations.

Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort general manager Christian Muhr said: “For us the label structure complements the company’s worldwide CSR initiative: Travel With Purpose and clearly demonstrates that we are implementing that strategy successfully.

“Furthermore, receiving the label puts us in a forum to benchmark with other progressive companies in Dubai who also have CSR at the core of their businesses,” he added.
