Abu Dhabi-based Rotana Hotel Management Corporation has signed a deal to open a new 230-room property in Mauritania in late 2014.

The management contract to open the five-star hotel was signed with Al Majmoua Almouritania pour l’Investissement (MMI), and it will be opened under the Rayhaan Hotels & Resorts by Rotana brand.

The hotel, which is located in the mixed-use development Ribat al Bahar, in the capital, Nouakchott, will feature restaurants, meeting rooms, a swimming pool and a gym.

“This agreement represents an important achievement for Rotana, and a major milestone in our strategy to expand in the African and Maghreb markets,” said Rotana’s corporate vice president - development, Makram El Zyr.

“The new ‘Rayhaan’ hotel is our first property in Mauritania which is a growing business and tourism market with a strong demand for 5-star hotels that offer world-class hospitality. This sea-front hotel will represent an impressive addition to the city’s hospitality offering for both leisure and business guests,” he added.
