The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has rolled out the “most advanced revenue management system in the hotel industry”, Rezidor incoming president and CEO Wolfgang Neumann told Hotelier Middle East.

Neumann, who joined Rezidor in May 2011 and will succeed current president and CEO Kurt Ritter on January 1, 2013, said one of the benefits of the chain’s partnership with US-based Carlson was major improvements already seen in revenue management.

When the companies announced their alliance in December 2011, Rezidor launched Route 2015, through which it aims to increase its EBITDA margin by 6 to 8% by the year 2015, making “revenue and commercial drive” a core part of the strategy.

Neumann said: “The strategic partnership with Carlson is particularly important in the commercial arena”.

He explained: “We have launched a new revenue management system in conjunction with Carlson called Snap; it’s the most advanced revenue management system in the hotel industry.

“Why is it the most advanced? Because we were lagging behind a little bit with ours but the benefit of doing it a little bit later is that we are really up to speed with the very latest technology and opportunities to optimise our revenue at the hotel level and at the area level.”

Snap, which stands for Stay Night Automated Pricing, was rolled out globally last year, with 87% of hotels using the Snap tool by the end of 2011. It was developed in partnership with JDA Software.

Results showed that hotels using Snap rate recommendations consistently see an incremental RevPAR increase of 4% on average.
