Amari Doha, which is due to open on November 1, has revealed the appointments of its executive team members.
The 120-room property, which is features a spa and various dining options, will mark the first foray into the Middle East of Onyx Hospitality Group.
As previously announced, Damian Ball, who has more than 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry in Asia Pacific, heads up the team, which sees Torgrim Viken welcomed to the fold as operations manager. The Norwegian has worked with Onyx at the Vogue Resort & Spa in Ao Nang, Thailand, and has also worked at Sheraton in Krabi, Thailand and The Landmark London Hotel.
Jordanian national Rami Arafat Al-Jabari joins the property as director of sales and marketing, after spending most of his hospitality career working with Marriott International and has worked across the GCC, including in Doha, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Joining Al-Jabari in the sales team is Nata Kvirkvelia, who becomes sales manager. She has also spent time working with Marriott International in its global sales office, and has been in Doha for the past six years.
In the kitchen Ali Jaafar has become the property’s executive sous chef, having spent more than a decade in the kitchens of five-star hotels. He has worked with chains such as Crowne Plaza, Movenpick, Accor and Hyatt in Kuwait, and was previously at the Serena Hotel in Tajikstan before moving to Doha.
Onyx president and chief executive officer, Peter Henley, said: “This project will be the first Amari property in the Middle East. It is a significant milestone for us and we plan to bring the personalised guest services and experiences that are a key attribute of the Amari brand to the region. Amari Doha will provide genuine Asian hospitality with a modern twist.”
