South Asia’s largest online restaurant and nightlife guide Zomato has expanded into Doha.

Headquartered in India and launched four years ago, Zomato forayed into the Middle East market in September 2012 with the launch of its Dubai section, soon followed by sections for Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in the UAE.

Zomato then launched a section for Colombo in Sri Lanka, and recently, continuing its international expansion, entered Europe with London as its first market.

Zomato.com provides in-depth information on 1200 restaurants in Doha with contact info, timings scanned menus, photos and mapped coordinates.

On mobile, Zomato’s location-aware applications provide information on all the restaurants around a user’s location.

Albinder Dhindsa, head of international operations at Zomato said, “Doha is a wonderful city that is growing rapidly as a commercial and cultural hub. When it comes to local coverage of restaurants, there is a market need to provide users with comprehensive information that they can use to discover the best places in Doha. The increasingly diverse population that is very much attuned to technology provides a great user base for Zomato in Doha.”

The site attracts upward of 10 million users each month and covers over 73,000 restaurants worldwide. Zomato plans to further expand its reach into continental Europe, Middle East, South America and South East Asia in 2013.
