Murray Goulburn, Australia’s largest dairy producer with a third of the country’s dairy market, has opened a new MENA regional office in Dubai.

The new office aims to increase the company's presence in the MENA dairy market which is reported to be the world’s second largest dairy import region, importing a combined 1.2 million tonnes of dairy produce valued at AED 14 billion (US $3.8 billion).

“The Australian dairy industry is extremely well positioned to help meet increasing Middle Eastern demand for dairy products and contribute to food security in the region. MG, which processes one third of Australian milk, will have a key role to play,” said Murray Goulburn managing director Gary Helou.

Helou also revealed that the company’s previous Middle Eastern market was worth AED 377 million ($102 million) and with the opening of the new office it was planning on doubling that figure within the next five years.
