His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai has reaffirmed the UAE’s desire to host the World Expo 2020 during a meeting with Steen Christiansen, chairman of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Executive Committee.

The BIE Executive Committee delegation met with Sheikh Mohammad at the Zaabeel Palace hotel, Dubai as a part of its visit to ascertain the country’s capabilities to host the World Expo 2020, which will have the potential to bring together worldwide scientific, technological and industrial innovations to be made available to nations, peoples and regional markets.

Sheikh Mohammad hosted a banquet in honour for Christiansen and the BIE delegation which was also attended by lieutenant general Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister and minister of interior; Reem Al Hashemi, minister of state, and managing director of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo; Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and group and chairman of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo as well as other members of the committee and senior officials.
