Whissle Hospitality, which put Okku Dubai on the map, is set to give the emirate's diners a taste of Southern hospitality with the opening of Claw at Souk Al Bahar later this month.

The licensed restaurant, with walls plastered with neon signs and  tables  dressed in gingham-printed paper tablecloths, offers ribs, lobster, crabs and steaks as part of its menu. A mechanical bull has also been installed to entertain guests.

Guests are encouraged to wear plastic bibs while dining and get involved with their food, being given a wooden mallet to crush their seafood.

“Having lived in and travelled throughout the US I have always enjoyed the legendary Southern style cooking and hospitality and wanted to bring this concept to the UAE. The mood is fun, the vibe energetic, the food mouthwateringly delicious, and the cocktails… strong!” said Markus Thesleff, Co-Founder of Whissle.

The opening of Claw is part of a rapid expansion project of the Whissle brand which started with Okku, which has a second outlet earmarked for London, followed by Casablanca and Saudi Arabia.

Beach club complex RIVA which houses gastro cafe concept Sophie's is also in the pipeline.
