Gary Rhodes said he had “dramatically dropped prices” at the Rhodes Mezzanine, located in Grosvenor House Dubai, during his keynote speech at Caterer’s Food & Business Forum yesterday (March 25).
The Michelin-star chef urged heads of F&B businesses to ensure they were getting value for money from their suppliers so the savings could be translated back to the customer.
“I just dropped the prices at Rhodes Mezanine quite dramatically, not because we were ripping off any of our guests previously, it was simply and purely my suppliers were ripping me off,” explained Rhodes.

“I called them up on it and asked whether they’d buy the product in the condition they were selling it to me in and told them either we get a better quality ingredient or we’re not going to be in business. You cannot believe the prices that have been dropped from our suppliers of late of late that enabled me to bring those prices down," Rhodes continued.
“There is a bigger market here now with more and more restaurants hitting the scene and I believe it is going to get tougher – we have to make sure we are looking after those customers.”
