Darin Davies, director of front house operations at Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis Hotel has been appointed president of the Association for Front Office Managers & Deputy Managers of Luxury Hotels (AICR).
In his new role, Davies is charged with liaising with members worldwide, expanding the organisation’s association, and planning for the next Presidium and Receptionist of the Year competition in Hamburg, Germany.
Established in 1964, AICR is an international organisation represented in some 12 countries, which provides front office managers of luxury hotels networking opportunities while promoting the profession.

Commenting on Davies’ appointment, Rupprecht Queitsch, general manager at JW Marriot Marquis Hotel Dubai said, “I was delighted to hear that Darin had been appointed such a prestigious and influential role within AICR.
“I am sure his experiences with the body will provide him with a wealth of knowledge, which will help better our business, and in particular the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai’s front of house offering.”
Davies, who has been with the Marriott since 2001, will continue the responsibilities he holds in his current role at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, including managing the hotel’s front desk operations, concierge and executive lounges as well as overseeing guest relations and VIP arrivals.
“AICR is the most highly prestigious hotel bodies for front of house managers worldwide so we are delighted to have a representative from Dubai take such an influential role,” said Ibhrahim Yakout, executive director for training solutions at the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.
Darin Davies takes over from Alphonso D’ Conceicao, director of rooms at the Royal Plaza on Scotts in Singapore, who held the position for four years.
