Le Meridien Al Aqah has announced plans to refurbish its existing rooms at a cost of US $6.8 million over the next two years.

The rooms will be redesigned to incorporate Le Meridien’s new brand design concepts while maintaining local regional touches.

The Fujairah-based property recently completed an AED 10 million (US $2.7 million) refurbishment of its public spaces, including the hotel’s entrance, the Al Aqah pool, and the popular Views restaurant.

As part of the part of the first phase of renovation, wave barriers were built in 2012 to protect the hotel’s beachfront and the region’s environment.

“An ambitious renovation program that will make way for a new, improved Le Meridien Al Aqah while staying true to the attributes that made us number one – a commitment to hospitality excellence, social responsibility and environmental protection,”

Plans for the refurbishment will be revealed by the hotel at the upcoming Arabian Travel Market, held 6 to 9 May 2013 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).
