Non-alcohol serving hotels can work well in this region, Armin Weller, F&B director at the Al Ghurair Rotana and Rayhaan Rotana in Dubai, told Caterer Middle East in a recent interview.

The hotel, whose F&B outlets do not serve alcohol as a decision made by the hotel owners, has put its efforts into bolstering its non-alcoholic beverage list.

In recent times a number of outlets on the Pearl Qatar including Mango Tree and Gordon Ramsay's Maze were forced to close because of the impact an alcohol-ban had on their revenues.

But Weller said non-alcoholic properties were a niche, and attractive to travellers “seeking to differentiate from the disruptions associated with the late night crowd.”

“The lack of alcohol revenue of course affects the total, but then our budgets are written accordingly,” he added

More and more hotels are tailoring services to suit the Gulf traveller.

Dukes London recently announced the launch of a women-only floor in a bid to attract more female visitors from the region.
