Aspen has revealed a new 'snow wall' feature. Aspen has revealed a new 'snow wall' feature.

With the reveal of its latest arctic attraction, a 5.5m high ‘snow wall’, the Kempinski Mall of the Emirates’ new-look Aspen Lounge is playing it cool

Having only recently re-opened in December 2012 following a complete refurbishment and repositioning, the Aspen lobby lounge inside the Kempinski Mall of the Emirates hotel has now revealed a new feature, a 103m² decorative ‘snow wall’.

The outlet already overlooks Ski Dubai, the region’s first indoor ski resort that features five slopes and a penguin enclosure.

The snow wall, designed and created by Solomon&Wu Contemporary Architectural Mouldings, in collaboration with international interior design firm Wimberly Interiors, is 5.5m high and 18m long, and made with glass-reinforced plastic.

GM Alejandro Bernabe says: “The design brief of the lounge was to celebrate the European tradition of a grand café in the heart of the city and to bring to the outlet a sense of European flair.

With the Aspen’s unique location next to Ski Dubai, the idea was to create an ambience of winter in Europe in a chic and cosy restaurant that you would visit after skiing or shopping with your family,” explains Bernabe.

The 124-cover Aspen Lobby Lounge achieves its look with Italian marble flooring, Swarovski crystal chandeliers, German crockery and Italian furniture, designed to capture the feeling of a traditional European grand cafe.

“It simply breathes European chic, which has been a strong attraction for our guests,” says Bernabe. The design and style of the lobby lounge also matches the outlet’s food and beverage and service, with a specially crafted menu by executive chef Sudqi Naddaf.
