Fairmont The Palm. Fairmont The Palm.

Less than a year after opening its doors in Dubai, Fairmont The Palm has confirmed that all of its restaurants will be revamped over the summer period in preparation for its busy winter season.

According to general manager, Martin van Kan, the F&B facelift is a response to dramatic changes in Dubai’s restaurant scene, which has led to an upswing in demand for a different dining experience from guests and stiff competition from the standalone restaurant sector.

Speaking exclusively to Hotelier ME van Kan said: “We originally opened the hotel at the height of the season but things have changed very quickly since then. We want to react to the demand so are looking at cosmetic updates that will be ready for the new season.”

Commenting on the competition in the emirate, the GM added: “There are so many standalone restaurants in DFC that are setting the trend and they are not all big names either; it’s fantastic homegrown stuff that's really challenging what hotels are doing. We are rising to that challenge.”

Van kan confirms that there will be no concept changes at any of the hotel’s restaurants. “It will be the same but certainly the décor, soft furnishings and the outlook will be completely different," he added.
