Key figureheads who attended the launch included Costa Express CEO Scott Martin, Dnata - Emirates Group president of group services Gary Chapman and Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths.
Dubai Airports, Emirates Leisure Retail and Costa Coffee have joined forces to launch the world’s first five-sense self-serve coffee machine as part of the UK’s coffee chain’s expansion of its Costa Express concept.
The Marlow 200, a one-of-a-kind self-serve machine that has been designed to recreate the sounds and smells of a bustling coffee bar, has been installed inside Terminal 3, Concourse A of Dubai International Airport.
Speaking at the machine’s unveiling Emirates Leisure Retail group CEO Andrew Day said: “The launch of Costa Express at Dubai International signifies another great step in reinforcing Dubai International’s position as a world-class travel retail environment and a global showcase for travel retail innovation. The launch also signifies another milestone in the relationship between Emirates Leisure Retail and Dubai Airport, following on the recent success of opening six new outlets at the new game-changing Terminal 3, Concourse A.”

Designed in partnership with Intel, Microsoft, Thermoplan, Bsquare, and Pininfarina the Marlow 200 serves Costa’s Mocha Italia coffee with fresh milk while new technology and design have been added to create a smarter, more connected user experience.
The Marlow 200 has also been designed to appeal to the user’s 5 senses with a shape designed by Italian design house, Pininfarina (designers of Ferrari and Alfa Romeo), while recreating the sounds and smell of a bustling cafe using sounds eMixpro, and scents designed by Givaudan and Scentys.
The machine also comes equipped a 27-inch HD touch screen with a user interface created by Intel, Microsoft and gaming specialists Atomhawk.
Finally the machine offers a choice of more than 250 different espresso drinks using Costa’s Mocha Italia blended coffee beans and fresh milk.
