La Serre Bistro & Boulangerie, a Parisian-style boulangerie, café and bistro is set to launch early August in the Vida Downtown Dubai hotel.

The opening team for the venue, which forms part of the first hotel by Emaar Hospitality Group under the Vida Hotels and Resorts brand in Downtown Dubai, includes chef Izu Ani who previously worked at The Square in London, Auberge de L’Ill in France and Dubai’s La Petite Maison.

General manager Heather McKnight’s past experience includes Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck and managing the team at Dinner restaurant prior to moving to the Middle East.

La Serre, located at the base of the Vida Downtown Dubai, aims to source fresh and organic ingredients, with remotely-located farmers and artisan suppliers throughout Europe and further afield being relied on to ensure the highest quality.

Ani said: "The food embodies the culture that it represents, the idea being that if you go back to the roots of the product you will understand the direction to take it."

The restaurant is encased in a two-storey glass façade, and the décor throughout pays homage to southern France. The boulangerie is an extension of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard and will open early each morning with freshly-baked breads, viennoiserie and a light breakfast menu.

A grand staircase leads upstairs to the bistro which will offer a Mediterranean-inspired menu available for lunch and dinner, as well as a chef's table. The space is modern and airy with a long marble bar, light woods and cream banisters overlooking the boulevard.

A conversion of the previous Qamardeen hotel, the Vida Downtown Dubai is the first property under Emaar Hospitality Group's new Vida Hotels and Resorts brand.
