Hotels and hotel apartments in Dubai recorded occupancy levels of more than 85 per cent during Eid Al Fitr, according to the latest report from the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
According to the report, most of the tourists visiting Dubai came from other gulf countries, with their numbers reaching over 42,000 during the Eid weekend, reports Gulf News.
DTCM director general Helal Al Marri is reported to have said: “The figures for the Eid-Al-Fitr weekend are encouraging and indicate further progress towards achieving our Tourism Vision for 2020. Having recently announced Dubai’s first half tourism results - with total visitor numbers exceeding 5.5 million from January to June 2013 - we are on track for this year’s targets and making strong inroads into achieving our medium- and long-term aims.”
A breakdown of the figures reveals that five-star hotels attracted 32,325 guests, with an average occupancy of 80 per cent; four-star hotels recorded 18,749 guests and a occupancy of 87 per cent; while three-star hotels saw around 14,836 guests with an occupancy of 95 per cent. Deluxe hotel apartments also recorded 10,782 guests with 93 per cent occupancy.

Jeddah, KSA topped the source markets in terms of growth, with the number of visitors travelling on Emirates Airline growing by 12 per cent compared to last year. Next came Kuwait, with a growth rate of eight per cent, followed by London with seven per cent growth.
Emirates Airline recorded an increase of 18 per cent in the number of passengers to Dubai during the holiday.
Meanwhile, occupancy after Eid remained high, with an average of 89 per cent for hotels and hotel apartments.
