The Dubai chapter of the A.I.C.R, an association of front office managers and assistant managers of 4 and 5 star hotels, is preparing to put some of Dubai’s best hotel staff through their paces as they look to crown this year’s ‘Receptionist Of The Year’.

This year’s competition is to be held at the Radisson Blu Media City Hotel on September 28, where the best receptionists from across a range of Dubai hotels will come together to compete for the prestigious title, as well as a prize of 15,000 AED (US $4000) and a trip to Hamburg, Germany to represent Dubai in the International Receptionist of the Year competition.

The A.I.C.R., the ‘Amicale Internationale des Chefs de Reception et Sous Directeurs des Grand Hotels’, or The Association of Front Office Managers and Assistant Managers of 4 and 5 star hotels, was founded in France in 1964 and over the past 50 years has developed into an international fellowship with sections in 18 countries. Today the Dubai chapter has over 60 members representing the best hotels of the city.

So far in this year’s competition two preliminary rounds have been held, at the Media One Hotel Dubai and the Ritz-Carlton Dubai, to whittle down the original 36 candidates down to the final six. The finalists will now be subjected to a series of tough questions and role plays in order to impress the panel of judges from across the city’s hospitality industry.
