Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts was awarded ‘Best Initiative in People and Talent Management’ for its Natural Enjoyment initiative at the Worldwide Hospitality Awards.
The Natural Enjoyment initiative by the hotel group aims to deliver a personalised and relaxed experience for guests through consistency in service delivery across all Moevenpick properties.
One of the objectives of Natural Enjoyment was to train all 16,000 employees of the group on practical ways to deliver the brand promise. Three ‘service ingredients’ were created and the interactive programme was rolled out in 2012 with ‘Discovery’ sessions, which were followed up with progress sessions in 2013.

Results were then measured through guest feedback, employee surveys and mystery guest audits.
Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts vice president learning and talent development Alex Rawson, who managed the research, design and implementation of the ‘Discovery’ training programme said: “Phase one of the programme zeroed in several hands-on possibilities our employees could take ownership of, while phase two made sure this new approach was also reflected in actual day-to-day behaviour. We are now shaping phase three with the objective to inspire employees through storytelling and sharing hero stories.”
Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts competed with five other international groups for the award. Each candidate’s submitted human resources initiative was studied against criteria which included originality and measurable efficiency.
