"The Rising Sun" collection on display in the Assawan Lounge at the Burj Al Arab.

Emirati artist Abdul Qader Al Rais’ recently displayed his “The Rising Sun” art collection in Dubai's Burj Al Arab hotel.

The Burj Al Arab’s Assawan Amphitheatre was transformed into an exhibition space for the first time, with 13 of Al Rais’ watercolours and oil paintings giviing guests the opportunity to expirience the region's culture and Arabic history.

Burj Al Arab’s general manager Heinrich Morio remarked: "It is an honour to host the unique portfolio of artworks by Abdul Qader Al Rais at Burj Al Arab and give our guests an opportunity to immerse into the beauty of the Emirati art in the newly created art space.”

Born in 1951, Abdul Qader Al Rais is one of the most-acclaimed artists from the United Arab Emirates, whose paintings include landscape and architectural scenes inspired by traditional Emirati neighbourhoods, buildings and forts using a photorealistic style.

Recipient of the first Sheikh Khalifa Prize for Art and Literature, Dubai-born Al Rais developed his distinct style through years of experimentation. His artworks have been exhibited globally since 1965.

Abdul Qader Al Rais exhibition is the first in a series of art-related initiatives scheduled to take place at Burj Al Arab.
