Alongside the new appointment, Six Senses spa at Zighy Bay, Oman is also undergoing a host of structural changes to rejuvenate the resort for the new year.

The refurbishment, which includes a facelift to the reception, retail areas, corridors and hammans began earlier this month.

Architect-Designer, Ms. Samya Ronda at INTERMASS Engineering and Contracting who is leading on the revamp commented: “I received input that was very helpful to understand how guests, therapists and receptionists utilize each area. This way we ensure that the function is as important as the appearance.”

The first of the amendments completed include a new welcome and reception desk replacing the juice bar, as well as the retail area being transformed to create a more shopping-friendly layout and include product demonstration desks.

Next in line for rejuvenation are the two Moroccan hammams which will incorporate a new steam area and a traditional barma as well as a new treatment table and subtle enhancements to the lighting and relaxation areas.

Completion of the hammams is scheduled for March, 2014 with the final phase of transformation, including amendments to the service areas and central corridor, due to be finished before summer 2014.
