Locatel, the provider of hopsitality IT solutions, has launced the Mobility by Locatel range of multilingual mobile applications designed to both improve hotel customer experiences and increase hotel revenues.

The result of several years’ research and development, Mobility comprises three apps: Lobby, In Room and Companion. Each provides users with access to a multitude of contents and services.

Lobby Companion can be installed on hotel tablets in the lobby, bar and business centre to provide information on hotel services and tourist attractions, while In Room Companion is designed for tablets located in-room to offer on line room service ordering, spa reservations, express check-out and more.

Mobility Companion works with the majority of guests’ smartphones and tablets to offer multiple services, and enables guests to stay in contact with the hotel before, during and after their stay.

Assuming an average length of stay of two or three nights only, Karim Zaki, managing director, Locatel MEA says the aim was to “keep it simple”.

“Technology should simplify the guests’ life. They should save time using it,” he said, with an example being a ‘call taxi’ app that gives guests a local taxi number immediately.

Locatel Mobiles Applications Business Unit director François Clemenceau said the innovation was the result of years of labour.

“The Mobility by Locatel offer is the fruit of several years of development, patents and 50 years of expertise in the broadcasting and media business. This know-how allows us to create innovative services and to meet the high expectations of guests with solutions such as viewing mobile content on the TV screen, TV channels displayed on mobile devices, remote control through mobile devices, secured printing from mobile devices and high speed internet access.
