Starwood Hotels & Resorts has appointed Stephan Vanden Auweele to the position of general manager of the Sheraton Dubai Creek hotel and towers as well as the new area manager of Dubai.
Belgian born Auweele has 20 years’ experience in opening and managing hotels globally including at the Sheraton Algarve and Sheraton La Caleta in Tenerife.
Auweele will spearhead the landmark hotel’s renovation which is set to re-establish the hotel as a key player in the five star market.

The refurbishment, which has been ongoing since July 2013, includes a complete redesign of the public spaces and all 262 rooms and suites, including technological enhancements.
The property, affectionately known as the ‘Lady of the Creek’ is due to reopen in April 2014.
