First Investor, the owning company that also manages Dubai’s Carlton Tower Hotel, is considering introducing a new budget hotel brand into the UAE market.

Speaking exclusively to Hotelier Middle East, First Investor hospitality division CEO Hosni A. Hadi said the company is developing a new brand for the UAE market because it believes Dubai and Abu Dhabi need more three-star and budget brands.

“The owning company has a number of buildings in the city and we are now working on establishing economy hotels similar to Ibis and other brands. We are working on developing a new brand. We are working with an international company on the branding for this three-star economy hotel and we believe strongly that Dubai and Abu Dhabi need hotels in the three-star category. If it works here, then we expand; we are very sure that it will work in Dubai because we see the need”

“We are looking to have a number of hotels in Dubai. Not everyone wants to pay AED 800 for a room. So as per the specification of the department of tourism, we will meet all their standard requirements when it comes to room size, safety, etc.,” he added.

Hadi also revealed the company will be constructing a new hotel on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed road but said no decision had been made about who would run the hotel.

“The Sheikh Zayed road property will be the main hotel for the company. It won’t necessarily be under the Carlton Tower brand. It’s not decided yet – it might be a five-star property as well,” he explained.

First Investor currently owns Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai, Villa Rotana, Marriott Executive Apartments Dubai Creek, and Carlton Tower Hotel in Dubai. The company also owns the Imperial Palace Hotel in Amman, Jordan.
