Millennium & Copthorne has opened the 253-room Grand Millennium Hotel Sulaimani in Kurdistan.
The tallest structure in Sulaymaniyah, the 253 room property has been hailed by Millennium & Copthorne president & CEO Ali Hamad Lakhraim Alzaabi as the ‘Burj Al Arab’ of Kurdistan and marks the company’s first Middle East venture outside of the UAE.
The five star property designed by Arkonsult Engineering Consultants provides an architectural landmark welcoming travellers entering Sulaymaniyah.

Millennium & Copthorne president & CEO (MEA) Ali Hamad Lakhraim Alzaabi said: “We are delighted to announce the opening of this 5 star deluxe property in Kurdistan. The next 12-18 months represent a very busy period for the company where an additional 10 hotels should be opening across the region in UAE, Kuwait, Muscat, and KSA.

Alzaabi added that the company is “delighted” to continue an “excellent relationship” with owners Faruk Group Holding.

The Hotel offers banquet and meeting space with the grand ballroom able to host up to 1200 guests. A stand-alone auditorium and 9 meeting rooms are equipped with the latest audio visual technology and screening facilities.
Dining options include “Beirut”, an upscale Lebanese restaurant, and a signature revolving fine-dining restaurant at the pinnacle of the tower with views of Sulaymaniyah. A champagne bar and cocktail offer additional F&B options.
Leisure facilities include a signature spa, tennis court, squash court, fitness club, indoor swimming pool and outdoor swimming pool with pool bar.
The grand opening of the hotel took place under the patronage of His Excellency, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan, along with dignitaries and high ranking officials. Media and guests attended a gala dinner and witnessed a fireworks display.
It follows shortly after the opening of the Millennium Kurdistan Hotel & Spa and the Copthorne Hotel Baranan which opened last year.
