The Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel has closed its doors for eight months for “major renovation and refurbishment” work until December, 2014.
The renovation has been planned with the aim to modernise the property and its facilities, with guest rooms, public areas, recreation facilities and the conference and meetings space all to be refurbished. In a statement, property owners Katara Hospitality said that the hotel’s Dafna Hall would remain in operation until April 4, 2014.
A Katara Hospitality spokesperson said: “This is a strategic decision for enhancing the offering of one of Doha’s most relevant hospitality venues.

“When the Sheraton Doha re-opens in December 2014, it will strengthen its position as Doha’s most iconic property, with the highest standards of luxurious and modern facilities in all aspects of its operations.”
Katara Hospitality said that all customers with room, food and beverage, or event bookings would be offered alternative options at one of the company’s other Doha properties.
