Starwood Hotels & Resorts will take over from Kempinski to operate the hotel towers at Bahrain City Centre reports Gulf Daily News.
The website quotes a source at Starwood, who revealed that Le Meridien and Sheraton will manage the two-tower property, which currently houses the Kempinski Grand and Ixir Hotel.
Dubai-based Al Futtaim Group, the owner of Bahrain City Centre and the hotel towers decided to end its agreement with Kempinski in order to adopt a two-brand strategy similar to properties in Dubai.
In Dubai, the group has hotels close to or connected to its malls, with properties managed by Starwood and Accor’s brands.
Kempinski is scheduled to run the property until midnight on June 30, 2014, after which Majid Al Futtaim will take over the property.
