The Iraqi Government has announced that all airports in Iraqi will be closed between 1am on April 29 to 7pm on April 30 due to the Iraqi election.

As a result the UAE national carrier, Eithad Airways has cancelled a number of flights to Baghdad, Basra and Erbil, which includes the following:

- April 29: EY555 Abu Dhabi - Baghdad / EY556 Baghdad - Abu Dhabi

- April 29: EY557 Abu Dhabi - Erbil / EY558 Erbil - Abu Dhabi

- April 30: EY555 Abu Dhabi - Baghdad / EY556 Baghdad - Abu Dhabi

- April 30: EY553 Abu Dhabi - Basra / EY554 Basra - Abu Dhabi

- April 30: EY557 Abu Dhabi - Erbil / EY558 Erbil - Abu Dhabi

The airline is offering passengers who have booked to travel on/before May 2 the option to reschedule on/before May 18, with a waivered fee for this one instance only.

In the statement, Etihad Airways said: “We are monitoring the situation closely and passengers are advised to check the status of their flights on Etihad Airways’ website.

“We apologise for this inconvenience. We are doing everything possible to minimise the impact of this disruption.”
