Mövenpick hotel Ibn Battuta Gate has appointmed Collin Kaskel as the new chef de cuisine at West 14th Steakhouse at its Oceana Beach Resort.

Commenting on his new role, Kaskel said: “I am very excited to work at West 14th, especially after hearing that it won the 'What’s On Award for Best Steakhouse and Grill - 2013'."

Kaskel comes from his previous role at Fairmont Dubai where he had been chef de cuisine at Spectrum on One since 2012.

An American national, Kaskel started out his career at the age of 13 as a prep cook in a family-run café in Dallas where he learned the ropes.

His determination to study culinary arts to improve his knowledge in the field led him to earning his Associates Degree in Culinary Arts at Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts, Dallas. He later obtained a Bachelor in Hospitality Management.
