On a visit to Dubai-based Comptoir 102 in June 2014 as a guest chef, Sati Faulks revealed that he is working on a new concept — cold-pressed juice bars which will offer fresh juices and raw food. When asked for further details, Faulks, a chef who is consulting in Paris, said: “Hopefully [we will open] in September — we are going to be in Paris and Dubai at the beginning.”

Silvena Rowe, who entered the UAE more than a year ago, has finally opened her own brand of restaurants, starting with Omnia Gourmet, which launched on June 19, 2014. This is a deli-cum-café located in Jumeirah and is aimed at the health-conscious — the menu aims to be raw, vegan, paleo, gluten-free, as well as sugar-free.

Bestro, which launched earlier this year, claims to be the city’s first “living raw foods restaurant” with the menu being 100% raw, organic and vegan. The café is run by Hayley Ross Macdonald, founder of Be Supernatural, the brand of raw and organic superfoods.
