Having announced the first Middle East Tryp by Wyndham in September 2013, Wyndham Hotel Group has hinted at plans for a second Tryp-branded hotel in Dubai and has suggested the mid-scale brand will be launched in every capital city in the Middle East.
The first Middle East Tryp by Wyndham, being developed by Omega I, a subsidiary of British-owned developer The First Group, is still on track to open in quarter four 2016.
The 672-room hotel will feature a tapas restaurant and different room categories including a family room, media room, exercise room and business room.
In an exclusive interview with Hotelier Middle East, Wyndham Hotel Group regional vice president MEA Bani Haddad commented: “Tryp is a nice mid-scale brand so in cities like Dubai we will definitely have more than one. I’m not going to say the next will be in Dubai.
“Dubai is a nice market in the sense that it’s very vibrant; it’s a city where the consumer likes novelty and demand is very strong so we’re very confident about being able to absorb demand with this type of product. We think the city will love it.”

Haddad went on to say the group is considering rolling out the Tryp brand “in cities like Manama, Saudi Arabia – all the capitals within the Middle East”.
He also explained that the Tryp by Wyndham brand will be around the same price point as the well-known Ramada brand, although it will differ in terms of demographics. “Tryp will attract a good mix of corporate and families, and probably a slightly younger generation,” explained Haddad.
“It will be very vibrant and there’s a big emphasis on staff and their knowledge of the city. The role of our staff is to guide and inform guests on how to have a great time in Dubai. Plus the design is very modern so we’ll have an edge over other midscale hotels,” he added.
Tryp by Wyndham Dubai is currently planned to be the largest Tryp by Wyndham in the world when it opens in late 2016. Hotel facilities will include designated meeting space, a spa, gymnasium and a variety of food and beverage outlets including a tapas restaurant and all-day dining restaurant, as well as a coffee shop, lounge area and bar.
Located in the city’s TECOM district, the news follows Wyndham’s announcement earlier this year of plans to bring its upscale Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand to the UAE with a property in Dubai Marina within the next three years.
