Minor Hotel Group (MHG) has launched Explorer, a new vocational hotel training programme, with the first roll-out in the Maldives, followed by Thailand and then the Middle East.

Explorer is the first Minor training programme accredited with international certification from the Australian Government with successful completion of the course awarded with a hospitality Certificate III qualification. This provides the foundation for progression towards a Certificate IV, and ultimately a Diploma in Hospitality.

CEO Minor Hotel Group, Dillip Rajakarier commented: “We are thrilled to be launching our industry-leading Explorer programme in the Maldives. A vast amount of research and work has gone into the development of this programme and we are confident it will offer our current and future associates an opportunity to develop and enhance their skills in real time, whilst also giving them an accredited certification enabling them to progress with their careers. This is our first regional launch of this programme and we are looking forward to rolling Explorer out in other regions where we operate in the coming months.”

The opportunity to take part on the course has been extended to young internal hotel candidates and external school leavers. Participants combine training with remunerated work experience and training is delivered by coaches who have been developed within Minor Hotel Group to achieve internationally accredited standards.

Minor Hotel Group CPO Caroline Stevens commented: “The launch of Explorer in the Maldives demonstrates Minor Hotel Group’s strong commitment to developing the youth of the regions that it operates in and confirms the group’s proactive approach to addressing the needs of the millennial generation in their vocational education.”

Following the Maldives launch, the next roll out of the Explorer programme will be Thailand in 2015. The Middle East programme will be implemented in the UAE, followed by Qatar initially.

A timeline for this has not been confirmed but a spokesperson from Minor Hotel Group revealed that the group is looking at quarter two, 2015 at the earliest.
