The Palace Boutique Hotel Bahrain is re-branding one of its outlets as a gastropub, which will open its doors to the public after Eid.

Managing director Khalid Al Rumaihi said: "Polo Gastropub will emulate some of its European peers in trying to bring pub food to a cuisine level. We have not witnessed this approach anywhere else in Bahrain, or in Dubai, so we are excited about this new launch and the reaction to our new menu."

Inside the venue, which has a very pub-like feel, large leather lounge chairs and comfortable sofas can be found in the dining area, along with the traditional bar stools at the bar.

Polo Gastropub outlet manager Chris Friel said: "The gastropub is not strictly replacing Polo Lounge; it’s evolving and moving on with the times."

He added: "Polo Lounge was knowing for being a great venue to enjoy a beer and some live sports, this will not change. We will retain the charm and cosiness of a pub but offer a menu that you wouldn’t normally see in a bar. It’s a new look, a new concept."

Friel revealed there is lots of wood and brick used in the interiors with the back wall featuring a 15 metre-long print which gives the impression of looking out onto a 1940’s Manhattan high street. "This along with our unique approach to branding gives the feel that you could be in Camden and New York at the same time," he explained.

He continued: "We feel that people are more comfortable in a pub environment. No need for collared shirts and shoes, guests can rock up in jeans and a pair of converse but still enjoy a level of cuisine served in high-end restaurants."

Friel said that the new concept with generate interest in the public, and added that the team's passion for food, beverage and service will lead the new venture to success.
