Next month’s Hotelier Middle East Great GM Debate 2014 will see over 200 hotel general managers gather for the essential networking and education forum.

Among the sponsors of the event, taking place on September 2 at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, will be all-round hospitality and catering supplier A. Ronai.

Managing director Gavin Dodd explains why the company is backing the event and what excited him about the industry.

Why is it important you support the Hotelier GM Debate?

As a loyal ambassador to Hotelier ME events A. Ronai LLC are extremely happy to support the debate for this year. We very much believe in supporting the great industry that we are a part of and events as professional as this are a great way of achieving our aim. With the expected increase in properties as well as the number of visitors to Dubai in the coming years it’s important for all related companies to stay ahead of the game, building and retaining crucial relationships with hospitality industry professionals.

What do you think are the main challenges facing UAE hotel GMs in 2014?

As a hotel GM I’m sure there are many day-to-day challenges faced across all departments but in particular with the increase in demand for fresh produce and quality products the supply chain relationship must continue to improve to satisfy the needs of the industry. With the positive news that the average stay in Dubai is increasing there will continue to be the need to offer guests a variety of food and entertainment options, a challenge in itself with a host of possibilities across the country.

What most excites you about the UAE hotel industry in 2014?

As always the UAE is expanding at a rapid rate with the opening of some fantastic new properties expected this year. New hotels such as the Four Seasons, Intercontinental Dubai Marina and the Habtoor City to name just a few of the significant developments only serve to increase the excitement and prospects for this year.

What is your company doing to capitalize on the Dubai Expo win?

Dubai’s economic growth in recent years is closely aligned with tourism development and following a successful bid to host Expo 2020, its hospitality and tourism industry faces a new set of opportunities and challenges.

In order to capitalize on such a significant opportunity we need to ensure that we are up to date with expansion across the country and abreast of project developments to ensure our company is appropriately represented. This is achieved through a strong sales force, maintaining relationships with key clients and hotel groups and providing quality service.

What other news is there from your company?

As Ronai is always keen to support the latest trends the product range is ever evolving to suit the needs and wants of our clients in the hospitality industry.

We have recently introduced a new range of chef’s knives to the Hospitality sector. The F. Dick collection from Germany provides a host of options for discerning chefs at a price range to suit their budget.

We are also constantly developing our uniform offering. With the imminent launch of our new Uniforms by Ronai catalogue we are hoping to bring a new dimension to the uniform industry in the Middle East. Particularly in Dubai where standards are extremely high and competition vigorous we hope to penetrate into more and more establishments throughout the year.
