With under a month to go until it kicks off at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, anticipation is building towards the Hotelier Middle East Great GM Debate.

The fifth edition of the event will take place on September 2, with over 200 hotel general managers expected to attend for the essential networking and education forum.

Among the sponsors will be commercial bedding products retailer Restonic. Sales director MEA Sameer Ahmed explains why the company is so keen to back the event.

Why is it important you support the Hotelier GM Debate?

Hotelier Middle East has been always delivering successful events in the past and looking at huge turnout of attendees at last year GM debate, we look forward to this great event again. It would be a good opportunity to showcase our new products in Great GM debate and it an ideal place to meet potential customers and networking with existing clients.

What do you think are the main challenges facing UAE hotel GMs in 2014?

With the growing number of hotels in the region, it would be interesting to hear from the panel about the strategies to face this challenge effectively. We expect the panel to discuss about revamping of existing hotels to raise their standards both in terms of Guest rooms and F & B outlets.

What most excites you about the UAE hotel industry in 2014?

The UAE hotel industry will continue to see addition of more hotels over the next four years, with the Emirates adding 120 hotels and nearly 32,000 rooms to cater to the growing number of guests. A number of new hotel development projects have been already announced during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2014 and few of the projects are ready for completion towards end of the year.

What is your company doing to capitalize on the Dubai Expo win?

Winning the bid for the World Expo 2020 has been an exciting time for Dubai. Restonic will expand the infra- structure by adding more machinery and skilled work force to cater to huge demand in hotel industry as the city will continue to grow and evolve.

What other news is there from your company?

The company is also rapidly expanding, with new stores in Riyadh, Jeddah, Damman, Doha and Abu Dhabi. With the hotel industry getting robust and new projects being announced, we have secured project orders worth AED 10 million till Q2 of 2014. In addition to this, Restonic has been proudly associated with Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok refurbishment, two new Hyatt projects in India including Hyatt Regency Gurgaon and Ludhiana and recently awarded Yak & Yeti Hotel Kathmandu, Nepal.
