Atlantis, The Palm has taken on the ice bucket challenge, with 350 members of staff pouring freezng cold water on themselves to raise awareness - and funds - for the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

In recent weeks, people around the world have been accepting and setting the challenge, with a number of high profile celebrities taking part.

The Palm Jumeirah resort was nominated by Ski Dubai to take on the challenge, and chefs, lifeguards and senior management from the property duly accepted it.

In addition to recording a video of the challenge [SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW IT], the hotel has also made a donation for each of the participants to an international ALS-related charity.

In the video, Gerard Moss, senior vice president of human resources at Atlantis, says: “Thank you Ski Dubai for nominating us for the ALS ice bucket challenge. I’m happy to accept it and support the good cause.

"But I am not alone – here at Atlantis we are one team and everyone wants to get involved.”

The hotel has nominated Emirates Airlines, football club Bayern Munich and, perhaps most optimistically, Buckingham Palace, to take on the ice bucket challenge.
