Accor Hotelservices Middle East is once again partnering with Action Hotels on a new property – this time a three-star Ibis Styles to be developed in Sohar, Oman.

Set to be completed by mid-2016, the hotel will have 128 guest rooms and will be situated on the Batinah Highway, the main road connecting the country to the UAE.

Design of the hotel is already underway and the property will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby café, swimming pool, gym, and meeting rooms.

“Ibis Styles Sohar represents our sixth development with Action Hotels and our second in Oman,” said Accor Hotelservices Middle East COO Christophe Landais.

“We are delighted to sign another management agreement, bringing the total number of rooms offered by this partnership with Action Hotels to more than 1000.”

Accor added that the hotel will aim to attract both leisure and business clients, given its close proximity to the City Center shopping mall, Sohar airport, Sohar port and the industrial zone.

“Our existing partnerships have been very successful and this project will further strengthen our portfolio of economy and mid-market hotels in the Middle East,” said Action Hotels CEO Alain Debare.

“The ibis Styles brand represents a unique offering in the economy segment, and we believe its position at the forefront of the market will drive significant returns. We are very much looking forward to working with Accor and their ibis Styles team for a target opening in mid-2016.”

The ibis Styles in Sohar is the 12th Ibis-branded hotel under development in the Middle East and, added to the 14 currently in operation, brings the total number of rooms under contract to over 6300.

Accor currently operates a total of 66 hotels with more than 16,000 rooms in the region and has 31 hotels under development, meaning it is fast-approaching its target of 100 hotels by 2017.
