Intercontinental Hotels Group is to operate a hotel in the tallest building in the western United States – currently under development – under its Intercontinental brand.
Set to open in 2017, the hotel will be in the Korean Air and Hanjin Group’s US $1.1 billion Wilshire Grand, which is currently under construction and will rise to 1100 feet (73 storeys).
With 900 rooms, it will become the largest Intercontinental hotel in the Americas region and will have a sky-lobby on the 70th floor.

Among the design features of the hotel will be natural wood and warm colours, to reflect LA’s beach culture, while the sky lobby will incorporate the city’s car culture through abstract representations of car lines into the internal panelling and décor.
