Bahrain’s Ministry of Culture will next month outline its tourism strategy for the coming years, which will include a series of new hotel evaluation techniques.

Earlier this week, the ministry organised a forum on ‘Tourism and development of Local Communities’, aimed at enhancing the role of tourism in development of Bahrain’s economy sectors and also marking World Tourism Day.

Opening the event, Tourism sector undersecretary H.E Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamood Al-Khalifa stressed the importance of the Bahrain Tourism Strategy 2015-2018, which will be revealed in November.

According to a report on the speech by the state-run Bahrain News Agency, it will include the implementation of a series of new assessment criteria for hotels.

It will also include the circulation of the monthly tourism rating report based on international tourism and hotel-related websites.

According to the latest data from STR Global, hotels in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, saw RevPAR increase by +24.1% to US$110.52 in August.
