Qatar-based hotel owner, developer and operator Katara Hospitality has completed the high-rise shell of its renovation project at The Royal Savoy in Lausanne, Switzerland.
As a part of its international expansion strategy, the company bought the hotel in 2007 and is revamping it in neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau style. The official re-opening of the Swiss property is planned for June 2015, after four years of redevelopment work.
“With the architectural style of a ‘Grand Chateau’, its international standing and unique design, the Royal Savoy is both a historic building and the pride of the city of Lausanne,” said Katara Hospitality, chief executive officer and board member Hamad Abdulla Al-Mulla.

The hotel will have 196 bedrooms and suites, and will be able to host 120 diners in the main restaurant, 60 guests in the lobby and the same number of on the Sky Terrace, which will have 360-degree panoramic views.
The Royal Savoy will also have a 1500 square metre wellness spa which will serve hotel guests and Lausanne residents.
Katara Hospitality currently owns properties spread across three continents in Qatar, Egypt, Morocco, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Singapore and Thailand.
