The Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel is opening its doors again to visitors today (November 16) for a sneak peak, following nine months of renovation work on the iconic property.
Owner Katara Hospitality and operator Starwood Hotels & Resorts are allowing local residents and visitors access to the lobby and public areas and giving tours of all the renovated areas including guest rooms, the convention centre, the recreation centre and food and beverage outlets.
It is also reopening the all-day dining outlet, Al Hubara, as well as its lobby café, Atrium Lounge. Bookings for guest rooms and other restaurants at the Qatar hotel will open up next month.
“The inimitable Sheraton Doha has occupied a special place in the hearts of Qatar’s residents for more than three decades,” said Katara Hospitality chairman His Excellency Sheikh Nawaf Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al-Thani.
“It has proudly hosted numerous special events in that time and holds many cherished memories for Qataris and Qatar’s residents. We are excited to celebrate a new chapter in Sheraton Doha’s legacy and look forward to celebrating more milestones in future years.”

The Hotel is now in the final stages of the renovation project, which includes the refurbishment of all 371 guest rooms and suites and the 35,000 square foot purpose-designed convention centre and other meeting spaces. Katara worked with government agency The Private Engineering Office on the project.
All public areas and recreation facilities have also been enhanced, with the aim of upgrading operational and building management and technology systems, whilst retaining its 1980’s characteristics and heritage.
It will continue to house nine F&B outlets, including South American restaurant Latino Steakhouse, Al Shaheen Lebanese Restaurant and the Irish Harp.
The hotel, which first opened in 1982 and is notable for its pyramid-like shape, is marking the reopening by asking the local community and loyal guests to share their memories and early pictures of the property via social media.
