The Dubai Food Festival has teamed up with Lime & Tonic, a social concierge service, to offer a series of Mystery Dining Tours to celebrate the emirate’s diverse cuisine as part of its expanded programme of events for 2015.
The programme employs some of emirate’s acclaimed chefs to create authentic Emirati and celebrity-favourite dishes. Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) CEO and coordinators of the Dubai Food Festival 2015 H.E. Laila Mohammed Suhail said, “To experience Dubai is to experience its food – and the Dubai Food Festival’s new Mystery Dining Tours are offering our city’s visitors and residents the chance to take the ultimate blind taste test. Showcasing the breadth and depth of our emirate’s world-class gastronomic credentials, the five tours will celebrate local and regional chefs and concepts, while championing a distinctly Dubai flavour – enhancing our city’s reputation as a culinary destination in the eyes of both our residents and the wider world.”
The Dubai Food Festival’s five tours include:
• Old to New Dubai Food Tour, 9 February – AED550 (US $150) per person:
A culinary tour that takes guests from the emirate’s historic city centre to the newer parts of Dubai, encompassing four restaurants. The food on offer will be matched to a period of Dubai’s history over the last four decades, starting with an introduction to Emirati dining and culinary traditions. Tour-goers will then meet each restaurant’s chef, who will deliver a dish based on a period of the city’s history.

• High Flying Dinner Tour, 14 February – AED9,120 ($2482) per person:
A one-off Valentine’s Day experience limited to three couples only. Six foodies will be treated to a limousine pickup, before travelling to one of the emirate’s flagship hotels for an insider tour of some of the suites, with courses served in two of the hotel’s restaurants. The tour will then lead to the skies for a helicopter flight to another flagship hotel, where guests will enjoy their final course under an aquarium, before returning home in the same limousine style.
• From One Chef to Another Tour, 17 February – AED1,700 ($462) per person:
Guests will have the one-off chance to meet the chefs from four of the city’s top restaurants, with the tour guided by the award-winning Tomas Reger, who has wowed the city for more than seven years. Tour-goers will also have the chance to sit at the chef’s table for a course of one of their favourite dishes.
• Celebrity Hotspots Tour, 18 February – AED840 ($228) per person:
Foodies dine in the best restaurants in the city, trying out the dishes ordered by celebrities. With a meet and greet at the end with one of Dubai’s biggest celebrity chefs, previously a judge on ‘Chopped’, guests will travel around Dubai by limousine, dining in the private rooms of each restaurant before meeting the chefs.
• Dubai Skyline Tour, 23 February – AED550 ($149) per person:
A culinary tour that takes inspiration from the view of four unique rooftop terraces, with the highlight showcasing a 360-degree vista of Dubai’s distinctive skyline. At each point, guests will be served drinks and dishes inspired by the view – so skyscraper scenes transformed into astonishing dishes are to be expected.
