Global brand ambassador for Robert Mondavi Winery, Napa Valley, José Fernandez will host an evening at Anantara Eastern Mangroves, Abu Dhabi, on January 13th 2014, where executive chef Aztaj Eddoukani’s four course menu will be accompanied by Mondavi family story, narrated by Fernandez, revealing tales of success and failure in the last 100 years at the pool deck.

The four course menu will see the chef prepare California Crab Cake paired with the 2013 Woodbridge Sauvignon Blanc. The soup course, an apple butternut aquash with smoked quail confit and vanilla foam will be served alongside 2013 private selection chardonnay, a pale straw yellow colour with fruity apple, lemon rind and spiced vanilla aromas.

Eddoukani has chosen one of his personal favourite dishes, grilled wagyu beef with wild mushroom and truffle cauliflower purée to accompany the first red wine of the evening, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, which features masses of dark fruit, smoke, licorice, menthol, plums and cloves.

Towards the end of the evening, 2012 Pinot Noir from the private selection will be served along chocolate sticky date pudding.

Talking about the upcoming calendar of events and culinary promotions, Anatara’s area general manager, Wael Soueid said, “Anantara Eastern Mangroves is focused on providing exciting culinary presentations for our guests. ‘Perfectly Paired’ is our series of dinners which combines exquisite cellared beverages with carefully selected cuisine to highlight flavours and characteristics. Our aim is to celebrate cuisine with our guests and introduce personalities from the industry and aficionados to share their insights for enjoyment.”
