Swiss International Hotels and Resorts is looking to open at least 10 hotels by 2017 in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait.
According to a report by Gulf News, the operator will open hotels under its luxury, upscale, and midscale brands, following the opening of the group’s first hotel in the UAE in Fujairah – Swiss International Concorde.
In the UAE, the group will open properties in Dubai, Ajman, and Ras Al Khaimah’s Marjan Island development.
Commenting on the group’s plans, Swiss International chairman and chief executive Henri Kennedi said: “What we have seen in Dubai is the exponential growth of the luxury market; it has been doing well in the past couple of years. But with the growth of the industry, you see that mid-market hotels are taking an important place and satisfying big demand.

“In the old days, three-star properties were considered not very favourable, but nowadays three-star hotels are of excellent quality, with good design and value for money.”
Kennedi has also said the group hasn’t ruled out the possibility of bringing its luxury Royal Swiss brand to Dubai.
Swiss International currently has 18 operational properties, comprising 2336 rooms in nine countries.
